Welcome to your best guide for amazing treehouse rentals in the Midwest!
My boyfriend and I love traveling and have taken many fun trips around the US, searching for quirky rentals. So this summer, we toured the Midwest states to find the best treehouses in each state based on local recommendations, online reviews and testing them for ourselves.
Our search led us to Minnesota, Missouri, Wisconsin, Illinois, Michigan, and further to find treehouses with the best amenities, locations, and views.
So after much back and forth and roughing it out in each rental, we finally narrowed it down to the top six treehouses with the best indoor and outdoor facilities, prime locations, serene views, and overall value.
Warning: Guests have been known to take one look at these wonderful treehouses and never want to leave!

My boyfriend and I are returning guests at the Valley Haven Treehouse in Wisconsin, as this quaint and cozy cabin offers the best getaway. The treehouse has a secluded setting with trees on all sides, and Westby city and Jersey Valley Lake Park are a short drive away.
We had a great time at this treehouse with all the amenities you need for a relaxing stay, a comfortable bedroom, and one bathroom that can accommodate up to four people. In addition, there’s a cute picnic table set up outside the treehouse, where we enjoyed having our meals with views of the trees.
So make sure to book the Valley Haven Treehouse, as it’s one of the best treehouses in Wisconsin. Here’s why you’ll agree:
- The spaces: From its cozy bedroom, open living room and kitchen area, deck, and outdoor seating areas, the treehouse offers a relaxing environment to take a break, work from home, or enjoy a secluded hideaway.
- The amenities: The treehouse is stocked with all the essentials you’ll need, such as a microwave, minifridge, basic kitchenware for cooking, good linens and bath essentials, Wi-Fi, and ample parking space on the property.
- The attention to detail: The treehouse has beautiful wooden furniture and miniature wooden structures made by the owner, scattered around the house, that resembles a ‘doll’ town and is masterfully crafted.
We had a great time at this treehouse, and could hardly find fault with our stay. However, guests should note that the treehouse does not have a shower facility and none nearby, so you won’t be able to stay here for long.
Pros:
- The treehouse is clean, well-insulated, and nicely furnished.
- The hosts are friendly and responsive throughout your stay.
- There are many outdoor activities from towns and state parks in the area.
- The remote setting is ideal for remote working.
- The treehouse offers good value for money.
Cons:
- There isn’t a shower in the treehouse, so washing up isn’t an option here.
Overall, we had the best time at this Wisconsin rental, and small groups, couples, and solo travelers should definitely check it out.

If you’re looking for the best Midwest treehouses for a rustic treehouse-living experience, head to Illinois, where the Ten Acre Treehouse Forest has the best treehouses. We stayed at the Whitetail treehouse, which has lots of peace and quiet from the surrounding woods and offers a fun glamping adventure.

In addition, the treehouse is hosted by Bob, who’s a terrific host and ensures guests face no issues during their stay.
So book the Whitetail treehouse for a glamping getaway in the Midwest, as it’s one of the best treehouses. Here’s why:

However, there’s one small negative to staying at this treehouse in the winter months: water in the shower is shut off, and the owners provide bottled water instead for basic washing and cooking. So you won’t be able to stay for long in cooler months.

- The treehouse is clean, well-furnished, and stocked with all the amenities.
- The treehouse is pet friendly (for an additional $30 fee.)
- The hosts are welcoming and quick to resolve guest issues.
