My boyfriend and I rented the Private Treetop house over winter break and spent a few amazing days in this winter wonderland. The treehouse is conveniently located in Lincoln, close to major restaurants and skiing locations in the White Mountains while being secluded in a dead-end street.  

We loved the gorgeous interior of this treehouse, which has incredible woodwork that’s eco-friendly and crafted by master woodworkers. The house has high ceilings with beams which gives it a spacious look and very comfortable living spaces. My boyfriend especially loved the ‘Cub Den’ on the top floor, which we used as a space to read and relax. 

Our host, Kathy, especially made our trip memorable by communicating with us throughout and ensuring we had every amenity for our stay.

This treehouse was a dream come true for us, so we can’t find any point in complaining about it. However, if you’re looking for complete privacy you won’t get that here since the hosts live in the treehouse next door. 

Pros:

• There are great amenities like a fully-equipped kitchen, a fire pit, electric heaters, and much more.
• You’re close to great restaurants, skiing locations, and outdoor activities minutes from the treehouse. 
• The hosts are friendly and communicative and make sure your trip is memorable. 
• The treehouse is ideal for families with younger children as the upper floor is designed for them. 

Cons: 

• The owners live next door, and there’s another treehouse next to theirs. 
• The price point is high for renting the treehouse, at $300+ per night. 

Overall, our time at the Private Treetop house was an amazing one, and we loved every moment. So make sure to check it out if you need a winter escape in New Hampshire that’s modern and aesthetically pleasing. 

Vermont Treehouse Compound – Best for a Family Trip

While looking for a treehouse for a family trip to Vermont, we came across the Vermont treehouse compound on a local’s recommendation and loved every bit of our stay. The treehouse is in a peaceful location tucked in the woods and is a short drive from the nearby town and neighborhoods. 

The compound has two treehouses, the Hermit-Thrush and Morning Dove, which are made from local and reclaimed materials. In addition, the treehouse comfortably fits 2-11 people from its spacious rooms and has a porch on two levels, allowing guests to take in the beautiful forestry all around. 

Our trip was made even better by the hospitality of our host, Rik, who was very responsive during our stay to any queries or concerns we had. 

So if you want to experience the rustic living of treehouses, surrounded by the quiet calm of Vermont’s forests, head to the Treehouse Compound. Here’s why we consider it one of the best treehouses in New England:

• Ideal for families: The treehouse comfortably houses up to eleven people, which makes it ideal for families, explorers, and large groups to rent out and enjoy. 
• Rustic Amenities: The treehouse has a great outdoor pavilion a few meters away, with all necessary amenities like a fridge, gas stove, a fire pit, hammocks, an outhouse toilet, and a composting toilet in each treehouse.
• Gorgeous location: With no one around for a few miles, lush vegetation all around, and the chirping of birds waking you up every morning, there’s no better place to spend your days. 

We had a great time at this treehouse and were very comfortable throughout our stay. However, the treehouse has some safety considerations if you’re with children or people with mobility issues, as there are rough, uneven surfaces, and railings are high with irregular spacing. 

Pros:

• The treehouse is clean and well-maintained, especially the outhouse toilets and showers. 
• On any day, you’re likely to encounter wildlife like foxes and deer on the grounds. 
• You can experience being one with nature from the treehouse’s rustic outdoor environment and facilities. 
• You can rent out the entire compound for a small-group stay and have it all to yourselves. 
• The house sways with the wind at night, which gives an authentic treehouse-living experience. 

Cons: 

• The wooded structure has uneven surfaces that can be difficult for children and people with mobility issues. 
• Cell service is limited on the property (but available down the road.)

Last summer, my boyfriend and I stayed at the treehouse in Truro Hills, Massachusetts, and it was a fantastic experience. The house is perfectly situated minutes from Provincetown, Pamet Harbor, and the Cape Cod National Seashore, so you can easily travel to town for a night out. 

The treehouse itself is beautiful, with modern furnishings, comfortable living spaces, and even an outdoor shower for the authentic treehouse experience. However, our favorite quirk to the treehouse was the octagonal outdoor deck, which gives stunning views of the Truro Hills and Cape Cod Bay. My boyfriend also loved the gas grill on the deck and cooked up a great BBQ dinner on it. 

Danny and Nina, the hosts, were incredible and have kept the house in great shape. They were friendly and communicated with us well throughout our stay.

• Comfortable living spaces: The treehouse easily accommodates up to eight people from its spacious bedrooms, open-concept living room, and multi-level deck.
• Modern amenities: The treehouse promises all necessary facilities like a fully-equipped kitchen with a gas stove, dishwasher, refrigerator, coffee machine, and a large island for preparing meals, plus wireless internet and cable TV.
• Serene Views: From the house’s windows and the outdoor deck, you can enjoy peaceful views of the surrounding greenery, the Truro Hills, and Cape Cod Bay in the distance.

We had a great time here and could hardly find fault with the house. But be forewarned that there is no air conditioning in the treehouse, so it might get too hot on some nights. 

Pros: 

• A well-furnished, clean and comfortable living environment. 
• Closeness to nearby towns for outdoor dining, activities, and exploring. 
• A spacious and equipped kitchen that’s ideal for cooking meals with the family.
• Access to the host’s beach equipment, including beach chairs and boogie boards.
• Terrific hosts, Danny and Nina, who are responsive and quick to solve any issues. 

Cons:

• Lack of air conditioning which makes the first level somewhat warm. 

To sum up, the modern treehouse in Truro Hills is an exceptional holiday destination to enjoy the natural beauty of Massachusetts while enjoying modern facilities. 

Treetop Sanctuary – Perfect for Couples and Small Groups

My boyfriend and I were lucky enough to stay at the Treetop Sanctuary in New Hampshire on our last trip, which resembles a dream treehouse destination. The treehouse is located in a secluded spot in the woods in Dunbarton, with beautiful fish ponds and hiking trails adjacent to it. 

We fell in love with the unique living space at first sight, which includes a 75-foot walkway leading to the house, that’s perched some 30 feet above the ground. The house easily accommodates four guests and has cozy bedrooms, a compost toilet, and our favorite part – transparent ceilings to see the snow and rain from above. 

The treehouse is hosted by Jack, who lives on the property and is a terrific host, friendly and responsive to any problems guests face. 

We highly recommend this treehouse to couples for its secluded feel and overall romantic vibe. Here’s why we rate it one of the best treehouses in New England:

• The closeness to nature: Guests can explore the 5-acre property freely, go fishing in the serene pond nearby, and try hiking from the many trails in the nearby conservation area.

• Attention to detail: You can tell the amount of care and attention the host put into making the treehouse from the personalized living spaces.

However, there are some downsides to living high above, such as no running water, so guests can shower in the host’s home if they need to.

• The secluded treehouse is only a short drive from the nearest restaurants and stores.
• The house is equipped with all necessary amenities like a full kitchen, wifi, TV, indoor fireplace, and more. 
• The host is terrific and gives great recommendations for places to try out in town. 
• There’s a wood-fired stove that keeps the house warm in winter.

Cons: 

• There’s no running water in the house, so you have to bring your own bottled water for cleaning or showering in the host’s house. 
• The treehouse is perched close to the owner’s property, so you won’t be completely alone in the area. 

Overall, we had a terrific time at the Treetop Sanctuary in New Hampshire, and we recommend it to everyone looking for an incredible weekend getaway in the woods. 

The Canopy Treehouse, a Luxury Carbon Free Retreat 

In our search for the best treehouses in Maine , we fell in love with the Canopy Treehouse in Sanford, which offers luxury treehouse living with a conscience – it’s carbon-free and eco-friendly. The house is perched high above the ground on an expanse of secluded forestry and close to the nearby towns. 

The house is gorgeous, supported by a pine tree and featuring a deck that looks out to the forest and a hot tub for soaking in on cold nights. However, our favorite feature of this treehouse was the private dock on Littlefield Pond, which you can paddle canoes on and try fishing. 

Our host was Bryce, a great guy who maintains the land well and is responsive throughout your stay.

The environment-conscious living experience, simple yet useful amenities, and attention to detail make the Canopy Treehouse an incredible place to spend a few relaxing days. Here’s why we rate it as one of the best treehouses in New England:

• The peaceful surroundings: The forest location makes this treehouse secluded, so you won’t be disturbed by excessive noise and hear the sound of birds all day.
• The amenities: The treehouse is super-insulated, with ultra-efficient heating and hot water. There are also great modern facilities like a projector, hot tub, and Wi-Fi.
• Outdoor activities: You can explore the grounds freely, go fishing at the private dock, or paddle a canoe out to Littlefield Pond. 

We were comfortable throughout and could hardly find any fault with the treehouse. However, the property has two other treehouses in the distance, so you’ll have company on the grounds during your stay.

Pros:

• The house is well-furnished, with eco-friendly amenities, and can house 2-4 people easily.
• The host is really helpful, answers all your questions, and stays in contact with you.
• You can drive to the nearby mall for a meal which is only a 10-minutes away from the treehouse.
• There are great outdoor activities like fishing and canoeing to try out from the nearby pond. 
• The house is very clean and minimal, so you’ll enjoy plenty of open space.

Cons:

• There are two other treehouses nearby, so you won’t be completely alone.
• There aren’t cooking supplies in the kitchen, so you’ll have to bring your own.
